5 UK scholarships international students can still apply in 2022

Several British student scholarships for foreign students are still open for the 2022-2023 academic year. These scholarships fund some or all of your studies to help ease the financial constraints that students face when they aspire to study abroad.

Students may find a variety of scholarships at different levels of study, whether undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate.

Bursaries are always open to applicants.

GREAT Scholarships 2022

The GREAT Scholarship provides scholarships from British universities in different fields and can be applied by students from 18 countries. Candidates from Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam are eligible to receive this grant. This grant covers tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course, worth at least £10,000.

The GREAT Grants are jointly funded by the GREAT Britain Campaign of the British Government as well as the participating British higher education institutions.

Participating HEIs that offer the GREAT Scholarship Initiative include:

Cardiff University

Participating countries: Brunei, China, Mexico and Thailand.

Grants available: Four (1 grant for each eligible country)

Deadline: May 31, 2022 (11:59pm BST)

Goldsmiths, University of London 

Beneficiary countries: India and Pakistan.

Grants available: Two (1 grant for each eligible country)

Eligible courses: For Indian nationals, students must have received and accepted an offer of postgraduate courses provided by one of the following departments:  The Institute of Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, Design, Institute of Management Studies, Computer or Psychological.

For Pakistani nationals, students must have been offered and accepted postgraduate education from one of the following departments:  Policy and International Relations, Institute for Management or Informatics Studies.

Aston University, Birmingham

Eligible countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal, Kenya (for Kenyans, the scholarship is only for students in law and justice)

Grants: 4 (one grant for each eligible country)

Eligible courses: All postgraduate courses taught for one year (excluding MBA and OSPAP) for candidates from Bangladesh, Egypt and Nepal; Kenyans may apply for LLM in International Trade Law.

Deadline: June 12, 2022.

University College London

University College London (UCL) is among the best universities in the world, ranked eighth in QS university rankings in 2022.

In addition to teaching excellence as well as experiential learning opportunities, UCL offers generous scholarships to students who lack the financial means to pursue their studies at the desired institution. Among the UCL scholarships are the UCL Global Masters Scholarship, which is open to international candidates from low-income families.

UCL Global Masters Scholarship

Value: £15,000 per annum.

Available for: Every Nationality.

Selection criteria: Financing requirement.

Eligible fee status: Overseas

Qualifying programs: all post-graduate programs taught.

Deadline: May 12. 2022 (5 p.m. BST).

Manchester Metropolitan University 

Manchester Metropolitan University offers international candidates the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor’s International Prizes. The generous scholarship is for international students with outstanding academic abilities.

Eligibility: A self-funded student with a strong university background who has been offered a place in a qualifying course as of September 2022.

Eligible courses: post-graduate programs including MA Design Innovation,  MA Sound Design, MA Games Art, MA Emergent Technologies, MSc Digital Marketing Communications, MSc Financial Technology, MSc Sports Business Management & Policy, MSc (Pre-registration) Physiotherapy, MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Cyber Security, MSc Data Science, MSc Sport and Exercise Science,

Undergraduate programs include BSc Physical Therapy, BSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and BSc Sport and Exercise.

Value: £6,000 (for the Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship) and £8,000 (for the Chancellor’s International Scholarship) annually during the first year of study.

University of Birmingham 

The University of Birmingham provides generous scholarships for students at this Top 100 university based on the recently released QS university ranking, This includes its Global Masters Scholarship.

Eligible Countries: Applicants must be classified as “residence” in any of the following countries, including Algeria, Canada, China (PRC), Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong (SAR of PRC), India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Seychelles, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, United States of America, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Bursaries available: About 40.

Value: A maximum of £10,000.

Deadline: June 30, 2022 (11.59 p.m. BST)

University of the West of England

The prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship from the University of Western England (UWE) is awarded to future graduate students who have shown exceptional academic excellence by obtaining the equivalent of a first-class British degree.

It is important to note that grant holders will be required to undertake an internship with the International Office or other departments and can undertake ambassador activities for the UWE during the course.

After graduation, scholarship recipients must be proactive in promoting and being active members of the UWE Bristol Graduate Network.

Admissibility: Graduate students.

Value: 50% of education costs.

Duration of the bursary: 1 academic year.

Bursary Availability: One for September 2022 registrations.

Eligible countries: All foreign-ranked for fee purposes.
